For more than 200 years, this impressive Dreiseithof (three-sided farm) has shaped the centre of Zabeltitz. In 1981, it was converted into a museum. In the years that followed, it was carefully restored in accordance with historic preservation principles and brought back to life.

Just a short walk from the two magnificent castles, the Zabeltitz Farm Museum offers visitors an insight into everyday life on a historic farm. The parlour, kitchen and bedrooms invite visitors on a journey back to the early nineteenth century, when the Händel family lived on the farm with up to eleven family members.

The Wirtschaftsräume (farm utility rooms), Futterküche (feed preparation room), stable and barn illustrate everyday farm work: livestock farming, the production of milk and butter, doing the laundry, and grain processing.

In the rear section of the museum, two exhibitions display agricultural implements. There is also an orchard, chickens and bees. In the teaching garden, traditional crops such as flax are grown, which once played an important role in the region.

Children and adults can explore the museum with an audio guide or try for themselves how flour was milled, wool was spun and cows were milked. For school classes and after school care groups (Horte), the museum regularly serves as an extracurricular place of learning and experience.

Annual highlights include the festive opening of the season on 1 May and the Zabeltitz Hubertus Festival (Hubertusfest). Group visits and family celebrations can also be arranged outside the regular opening hours.

We look forward to your visit!
